Dispensers

How many dispensers do you have in your home?

As I putzed around my house one peculiar day, I made a mental note of the varied dispensers scattered about. (Don’t ask me why! I hardly know myself.)

I counted soap dispensers, drink dispensers, a label dispenser, tape dispensers, a water dispenser, and an empty Pez dispenser. I added among them a couple varieties of aroma dispensers. (One in my son’s room, to be sure! And let’s not forget the one that goes in the trunk of the car during soccer season.)

In Romans 5:15 we read that the grace that came by the One Man now overflows to the many. God generously dispenses great grace through Jesus. Grace has been given to each one of us (Eph 4:7).

But shouldn’t we, too, be dispensers?

God’s dispensers?

Grace dispensers?

Good News dispensers?

With his every letter, Paul dispensed grace in his greeting. Each one bore a blessing in prayer—that the grace of God be with His people.

And Peter tells us we can grow in grace (2 Pt 3:18) and, further, that we should be stewards of that grace.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received

to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace

in its various forms.”

(1 Pt 4:10)

So, when you putz around your house counting dispensers, don’t forget to add one – you,

You are God’s portable — one-of-a-kind — grace dispenser.

And, as my way of dispensing a bit of grace this fine day, I leave you with a closing benediction…

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit

be with you all.”

(2 Cor 13:14)
