"LORD, there is no one like You to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on You,
and in Your name we have come against this vast army.
O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You."
Asa, King of Judah
898 B.C.
These are words for worship;
words for praise;
words for prayer;
words to remember.
These are words to use when calling upon the One with might and control when our own words won't come.
These are words to evoke the Spirit's power.
That’s why I resolved to pray this verse;
memorize this verse;
use this verse.
It makes for great weaponry—offensive and defensive.
When faced with those things that come against us, it's good to have an arsenal at the ready.
When courage is lacking and dread has mounted its steed;
when fear stalks faith;
we must raise our Shield and Sword.
In the midst of difficulties, seek His face;
raise His Name as a banner over the situation;
and use His Word in prayer.
His Words of love soothe,
encourage,
empower.
All the great kings did it.
David did.
Jehoshaphat did.
Asa did.
Hezekiah did.
Jesus did!
Jesus employed words from the Psalms as He agonized in the Garden and on the Cross.
I use a different colored highlighter for these prayer-words—that way they’re more easily identifiable under pressure.
Better yet: snap a pic with your phone and carry them around with you. Then you’ll be armed with words of prayer and praise;
Words of power;
Words to make a heart courageous.
